Safer Recruitment - Getting it right first time
Safer Recruitment is high on every school’s agenda and Strictly Education’s HR Division can help make sure you get it right.
As you will be aware, you now cannot employ anybody who is not registered with the ISA. The latest information on the ISA is given below.
We can also help with CRB checks, occupational health referrals and pre-employment checks.
Additionally, we can provide briefing sessions and training courses on Safer Recruitment.
From 26th July 2010 the CRB will be introducing a new application form which will allow applicants to apply for ISA registration and a CRB check on the same form. Under this new system you can apply for:-
ISA Registration only £64
ISA Registration with an Enhanced CRB Check £64
Enhanced CRB check only £36
Standard CRB check £26
We will also be charging an £11 fee to cover our administration costs.
The CRB have developed an interactive e-guide which takes you through the process of completing the form. This can be accessed via the CRB website here.
We will receive a supply of the new forms at the end of April but they will not be accepted by the CRB until 28th June 2010 and they will not start processing them until 26th July 2010 onwards. We will therefore be forwarding the new forms to you sometime during May and June.
After 26th July 2010 the CRB will not process any old forms and if any are sent in they will be rejected and returned to you for a new form to be completed. It is our intention to run some customer sessions which provide more detailed information on the changes to the procedures in the next couple of months.
ISA registration only has to be done once by the individual and is transferable to other employers or volunteer organisations. The individual will be given an ISA registration number which they will be able to give to any employer and/or volunteer organisation who can then register an interest in the person on the ISA website.
We would suggest that as the ISA registration is transferable and does not need to be redone that staff are asked to pay for this part of the fee (£28) themselves, the remaining part of the fee which covers the CRB disclosure should still be paid by you as their employer. Where you make a request through us for ISA registration we will charge the whole fee to you and then it is your decision whether you collect the £28 from your employees.
If you have any queries concerning the ISA or are interested in hosting an event please contact our HR Helpdesk on 01908 208202 or 01908 208298.
