£1.3 Billion Extra Funding For Schools
Justine Greening, the Secretary of State for Education has announced additional £1.3 billion in funding for schools over two years. The announcement brings an initial delivery of £416 million in 2018-19 and a further £884 million in 2019-20. The investment will arise from savings and efficiencies identified from the Department for Education's budget.
The statement to parliament also briefed plans for a new national funding formula (NFF), maintaining pupil funding and a cash increase for all schools. The NFF will be implemented in 2018.
Furthermore, the government has confirmed its commitment to double the PE and sports premium for primary schools. All primary schools will receive an increase in their PE and sports premium funding in the next academic year.
